Metallbau Emmeln

Your partner for custom container solutions.

Container solutions for renewable energy generation – flexible to plan, transportable, and suitable for municipal and industrial applications.

Metallbau Emmeln switchgear containers are used in renewable energy generation for both municipal and industrial applications. The container can serve as an e-house, transformer station, or grid handover station and house customer-supplied switchgear and transformers.

Thanks to the flexible configuration of container size and functionality, different site conditions and power requirements can be met.

Applications

Container solutions for renewable energy combine key components for energy conversion, distribution, and grid handover in a robust, transportable unit.

Transformer Station

Transformer stations are essential to the power supply. They ensure that electrical energy is delivered safely and efficiently from the generator to the consumer and contribute to grid stability and reliability.

Switchgear Container / Compact Substation

The switchgear container is a walk-in station or a non-walk-in compact substation and typically houses low-voltage equipment, a transformer, and medium-voltage equipment. The transformer converts the voltage, which is distributed to end users via the low-voltage system. The system is switched and protected via the medium-voltage equipment.

Grid Handover Station

A grid handover station is an interface between wind farms and the transregional power grid. It transfers wind energy safely and efficiently into the grid.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

By placing the container on a substructure with a cable support system, rigid cables can be routed vertically from below into the container and to the switchgear. This ensures straightforward cabling despite the large bending radius of the power cables.

Yes. Road transport is possible in compliance with applicable road traffic regulations. Compared with conventional concrete buildings, these containers are significantly lighter and easier to transport.

The containers and installed equipment can be used sequentially at temporarily different sites. In addition, all components can be installed and tested at the factory to ensure smooth commissioning on site.

The container receives a corrosion protection coating in accordance with DIN EN 12944-2, giving it a long service life. This also allows it to be partially embedded in the ground area.

The container has a sheet-metal duct behind the medium-voltage switchgear that directs pressure in a controlled manner to a pressure relief flap in the roof or wall. This helps protect personnel inside the container. This design has proven itself in practical use.
